Jalavane Waterfall is one of the hidden and famous waterfalls of Goa Karnataka border. The waterfall is located in Surla village, on the border of Karnataka and Goa. You can reach it from Balgum, Karnataka, or Goa. Nowadays, photos of Jalavane waterfall are going viral on Instagram. This waterfall is in a very dense forest. This waterfall is across the border of Goa Karnataka, which comes in Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary. This waterfall is so clean that you can see the stones inside the water. This waterfall is extremely deep; avoid going deeper into the water if you plan to swim. To visit this waterfall, you have to go on a dangerous trek. You have to do some dangerous hiking in order to reach this waterfall; therefore, avoid going if you are not comfortable with hiking. You have to cross a river, climbing on the stone.

Jalavane Waterfalls is permanently closed to visitors. Due to a second sad tragedy that occurred in January 2024, while it may be tempting to access it via surla Waterfall, please be aware that doing so is strictly prohibited. The area is within a Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, and trespassers will face arrest and legal consequences. Breaking these rules could have serious legal repercussions and cause disruptions for your travel plans. We request everyone to hire a local guide to visit the Jalavane waterfalls with all the required permissions from the Forest Department. I will update here if this waterfall opens.


How to reach Jalavane Waterfalls


If you are coming from Sanquelim, take Kari Belgaum Road. Paryem Village is around 5 kilometers away. After that, you will arrive at Kari Village, which is approximately 5 kilometers away. After reaching Kari Village, take Chorla Ghat Road. Before it, you'll see the Keri Check Post, where police checks are performed. If you're going by bike, don't forget to bring a helmet. This waterfall is only 25 kilometers away from there. You must take Ghat Road from the Kari Check Post. While traveling to Chorla Ghat, you will come upon a little Sai Baba temple. After this, you will reach Keri Hills View Point, from which you can take a look at Anjunem Dam. After 1-2 kilometre you will find Swapnaganda Resort and wildernest Resort. After a few kilometers further you will find the Goa Karnataka border. Going a little further, you will find Chorla Village, which lies in Karnataka. You will find a hotel and restaurant on the side of the way. Later you will find Karnataka Excises Gate. There is a road on the right side of the excises gate which leads to Surla Village. After going a little further you will reach Sarla Village. Further ahead you will find a Shantadurga Kelbai Temple from there you will have to take a left turn. Which goes to the forest check post. Need to pay required fees at check post. From here inside you will find the way to Jalvane Waterfall.
