Surla waterfall is located in Surla village in Sattari taluka. This waterfall is deep in the forest. You have to walk for almost an hour. Surla Falls is permanently closed to tourists due to deaths; it all lies in the Madei Wildlife Sanctuary. The waterfall here has been closed by the Goa Forest Department; they do not allow you to go here, but still, many people go with their permission or go through the other route.

If you go through another route where department people are not there and you reach the waterfall, but forest department people live at the waterfall, they keep guard there. If they see you there, they will tell you to leave. After that, you can request them; if they don’t agree even after requesting, then you will have to go.

 How to reach Surla Waterfalls

If you are coming from Sanquelim, then you will have to take Kari Belgaum Road. You will find Paryem Village at 5 km. After that, you will reach Kari Village, which is around 5 km away. After reaching Kari Village, you will have to take Chorla Ghat Road. Before that, you will find the Keri Check Post, where police checking is done. If you are going with a bike, then do not forget to take a helmet. This waterfall is just 25 kilometers away from there. You will have to take Ghat Road from the Kari Check Post. While going to Chorla Ghat, you will find the small temple of Sai Baba. After that, you will get to Keri Hills View Point, from where you can enjoy the view of Anjunem Dam. After going a little further, you will find Swapnagandha Resort, and after that, you will find Wildernest Resort. After that, you will find the border between Goa and Karnataka; from there, Karnataka starts. Going a little further, you will find Chorla Village, which lies in Karnataka. After that, you will find a few small hotels and restaurants in between. Going a little further, you will find the Karnataka Excise Gate. A little ahead of that, you will find the road to Surla Village, which is on the right side. But you do not have to go to Surla Village; you have to go straight. After some time, you will find the Delta EcoHuts Hotel, and you will have to stay there. From there itself, you have to reach Surla Waterfall. You have to park your vehicle at a side and walk from there. There is a path from the side of the Delta Ecohuts hotel that leads to the waterfall. If you don’t find the way, you can ask there, and they will tell you.

This waterfall is about 2–3 km from the Delta Ecohuts Hotel. And it will take you about 40min to 1 hour reach the waterfall from here. People keep visiting this waterfall, so you will easily find the path leading to this waterfall. And because many people pass through the road, the road becomes a little cleaner, and hence it becomes a little easier for you. 

Surla Waterfalls is about 70 km from Panaji, about 90 minutes drive. Take the Panaji Belgaum Highway, which passes through the Chorla Ghat section.
